Sorare is a unique combination of card collecting, fantasy football game and blockchain technology. Thanks to the blockchain technology, fans can now collect officially licensed digital cards of their favourite players with the benefit of provable scarcity. Not only that, but these cards are freely tradeable and usable in an open world of different applications and games plus they have the benefits of any blockchain asset: cannot be copied or taken away from you. For the 2020-21 season there are three levels of scarcity for each Sorare Card: Unique, Super Rare (10 copies) and Rare (100 copies)
On top of the collectible aspect (non-fungible tokens or NFT), the value of the card is dictated by their utility in the SO5 Tournaments. These tournaments are run by Sorare two times per week, every week, and the prizes on offer are amazing.
SO5 Tournaments or Sorare 5-a-side fantasy football are tournaments where you can submit teams of 5 Sorare Cards (from your gallery) and earn points based on the performance of your players in real life football matches. You will be ranked according to the total number of points your team obtains. Good performances are rewarded with real prizes in ETH and player cards.
Collecting cards is so much fun and some of us are doing it since early ages. But with Sorare the whole thing became even better, as now on top of collecting the player cards, the owner has the possibility to use them in order to receive prizes such as ethereum or other player cards.
Before you start buying players it’s better to know more about tournaments and prizes, as each tournament has it’s own restriction and a different prize and reward structure.
There are 3 main league structures where you can compete for great rewards every week:
The Global Structure:
All Star League: The All-Star League contains 4 Divisions in which you can play with any combination of cards (Unique, Super Rare and Rare).
Under 23 League: The Under 23 League contains 4 Divisions in which you can play with any combination of cards (Unique, Super Rare and Rare) Must be 23 or under as of July 1st, 2020. This will next update on July 1st, 2021
The Rookie League: The Rookie league in which you can play with only your common cards.
The Regional Structures:
European Champions League: The European Champions League contains 4 Divisions in which you can play with any combination of cards (Unique, Super Rare and Rare). Entry is limited to players representing teams in the top 5 European football leagues: Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1.
American Champions League: The European Champions League contains 4 Divisions in which you can play with any combination of cards (Unique, Super Rare and Rare). Entry is limited to players representing teams in the American leagues we cover: MLS, Superliga Argentina, Liga MX, Colombian Primera A, Brasileiro Serie A.
Asian Champions League: The Asian Champions League contains 4 Divisions in which you can play with any combination of cards (Unique, Super Rare and Rare). Entry is limited to players representing teams in the Asian leagues we cover: J.League, K League, Chinese Super League.
European Challenger League: The European Challenger League contains 4 Divisions in which you can play with any combination of cards (Unique, Super Rare and Rare). Entry is limited to players representing teams from teams outside the top 5 European leagues we cover: all the other European football leagues that we cover: Portuguese Liga, Russian Premier League, Eredivisie, Belgium Pro League, Scottish Premiership, Turkish SuperLig, English Championship.
The Special Structures:
Training League: The Training League in which you can play with any combination of cards (Unique, Super Rare and Rare)
Weekly Challenge: The Weekly Challenges can be played with any combination of cards (Unique, Super Rare and Rare) Must fulfill the eligibility criteria for the Challenge.
For example in All Star Division 1 – 4 tournaments you can use any player available on Sorare without restrictions, meanwhile in Champion Europe you’ll be able to use only players from teams playing in the top5 European Leagues.
As you can see in the pictures above, the prizes & the amount of places that get rewarded vary from one division to another, with the 4th Divisions usually being the most accessible as only rare and common cards are eligible for these tournaments plus the thresholds for getting ETH rewards are achievable even with an average team in All Star Division 4. This is the best place for someone starting on a low budget to build their way up.
Over 205 points = 0.01 ETH
Over 250 points = 0.02 ETH
On top of the ETH prizes, by finishing 130th or better will entitle you to a reward card varying from tier 3 to tier 0(Star)
Keep in mind that each tournament has different prize pools and certain players are rewarded only in a specific type of tournament. You can check the Prize Pools on Sorare website under the Play tab.
Check all the tournaments to get a better idea about the rewards and prize structure and than decide where to start. In case you are on a limited budget, best idea is to focus on a single league and buy players accordingly (not all players are eligible for all leagues – for exemple in U23 tournaments you can use players aged 23 or below.
After you set your budget and chose a strategy, you can start buying players. At this point there are two ways to buy players:
First option is to buy new cards directly from Sorare in the Transfer Market/New cards tab, by participating in their daily auctions. Bidding in an auction is easy. Simply place a bid on the Player Card you want to purchase and wait for the auction to end. If another user places a higher bid, you will be re-credited and you will get notified so that you have a chance to place a higher bid. If the clock is under 1 min, each bid will reset it to 1 min. At the end of the auction time, the user with the highest bid wins the auction and the Player Card is transferred to your Gallery
In the picture above you can see an example of the hottest auctions coming up. Under the player card you can see both the price in ethereum and fiat which represents the current highest bid on that player. Lower than that is the remaining time till the auction is over and the amount of bids already submitted.
Click on the “View all new cards” link to be directed to the page containing all the auctions from the next couple of days.
The other option to buy cards is from other managers under the New Cards/Manager Sales. Here you can buy a player instantly and there are a lot of cards available on the market, but you’ll often find overpriced cards so shop carefully. Check Soraredata.com to find out more about players average prices, best market offers and a lot more useful information, before you start shopping here.
You can also use the filters on Sorare website to search for players easier.
The cards that can be sold are Rare, Super Rare and Unique Cards (not Common). When looking at the card page, if you are the actual owner, you’ll find an option to put the card up for sale.
Enter the price
Confirm by pressing sell
Your card will then be on sale for the next 48 hours. If no one buys your Card, the sale will expire and the card will remain in your gallery.
If someone buys your card, you will receive an in-game notification and an email. Your balance won’t update immediately as the transfer is underway. Once the transfer of the card is completed, then you receive the money for that card on your Sorare account. You can find the status of your card transfer on the card itself.
If you enter a tournament and one card you used in your team sells before the deadline, you will receive a message explaining that your lineup is cancelled because there is one card missing.
If you enter a tournament and one card you used in your team sells after the deadline, then your team is still registered. It’s the deadline that locks in the team.
The best part of Sorare is that there are plenty of different ways to make profit and have fun, it’s up to you to choose the best ones. You can find a few ideas in STRATEGY.
